As part of a multi-million pound school buildings programme, investment scheme by Croydon Council, Smith Construction were delighted to be appointed to construct a multi-use games area (MUGA) at Heavers Farm School, by main contractor Willmott Dixon.
The 61m x 43m MUGA, which will be utilised by the whole school for physical education, football and cross hockey, was handed over to the school last month. Heavers Farm School christened their new MUGA by beating their opposition 2-1, in a friendly football match.
On top of an insitu shock pad, Smith Construction installed TigerTurf Evo Pro, a versatile synthetic playing surface, ideal for multi-sport facilities, such as tennis, athletics, recreational football and hockey. The pitch has been enclosed using twinbar fencing and a retaining wall was built to preserve an existing grass bank.
Smith Construction has transformed a grass playing field, into an all-weather facility, providing Heavers Farm School with a modern, multi-use facility which can be used all year round.
