Smith Construction are delighted to have been selected by Conamar Building Services, to construct a new sports facility in Dorking.
Mole Valley District Council were given the go-ahead to construct a £5 million community sports facility at Meadowbank Recreation Ground, Dorking, in the summer 2016. The football facility will feature a club house, floodlit 3G pitch, spectator stands and changing facilities. This fantastic new development will be widely utilised by many local football teams and will be the new home to non-league football in the town. The facility will also provide new offices for Surrey County Football Association, a café with outdoor patio area and exciting play areas for children to explore, including a three-floor soft play area.
Smith Construction began work on site earlier this month, ready to deliver the brand new 3G pitch to meet FIFA’s new quality programme: FIFA Quality Pro. To create a solid base, the ground will be stabilised using a lime and cement mixture, drainage will be installed, followed by a stone and tarmac layer. Smith Construction will install a 60mm synthetic surface which will be infilled with sand and rubber. The surface will be line marked to allow for full size football to be played, including top-class competitions.
Councillor Charles Yarwood, Mole Valley's executive member for property said: "We look forward to working closely with our partners on this exciting new development in the heart of Dorking town centre.
It will provide a range of facilities and activities that will encourage active play and improved fitness across a wide age group. I also expect this great facility will draw people into the town and help further the local economy.
With a 3G Artificial Grass Pitch, a soft play area, café and public toilets that support and enhance the facilities at Meadowbank, the entire community will benefit from this project."
